Hurricane Rotors
The "HurricaneTM" rotor represents some of the most advanced patented technology available in heat dissipation. Through a joint venture with Advanced Cooling Inc., this uniquely designed high performance rotor contains multiple layers of cooling fins inside. Approximately 10 times more cooling surface area is gained with the Hurricane's internal design & finning than in any high performance disk brake rotor currently on the market. With more heat transfer surface area inside, the brake rotor runs cooler, because it is dissipating heat more quickly, consequently there is less brake fade. The outer surface layers benefit by using materials that provide higher friction coefficients. The result is increased efficiency and longevity of the braking surfaces. The same high temperature brazing process used in aircraft jet and turbine engines is used to manufacture these new rotors.
This patented finned rotor design offers the following advantages:
1. High conductive and convective thermal coefficient to remove thermal energy 2. High friction coefficient 3. High metal strength preventing distortion and breakage 4. Lower weight possibilities due to higher strength to weight ratios compared to castings and with the use of composite layers of different metals 5. Reduced heat means increased life of all brake system components 6. Possibility of brake fluid boiling and brake fade is reduced, or even eliminated!
The unique finning inside the rotor core more than triples the cooling efficiency. These cooling fins provide many times more surface area for higher heat transfer. Brake fade is now a thing of the past. This efficient technology is available only on the HURRICANETM DISK BRAKE ROTOR and cannot be cast due to process constraints.
Why are Steel Rotors better?
Steelis much stronger than cast iron because it is not granular like iron castings. Steel has directional grain boundaries and bends in shear load conditions (crashes) whereas castings crack or break. Bent steel rotors do not come apart, dangerously flinging pieces of metal like cast rotors. The HurricaneTM Rotor is steel. Not only does it contain cooling vents like the cast rotor, it has cooling fins inside the vents making it possible to dissipate heat at a much higher rate. The laminated structure is made up of layers of steel making it the strongest and safest rotor available. It is so advanced it is U.S. patent number # 5,626,211, by The Brake Man, Inc.
The HURRICANETMDISK BRAKE ROTOR is the most efficient heat-dissipating rotor ever designed. The dyno tests verify this beyond doubt. This is the most significant step in brake system evolution in over 30 years. When combined with the forged, patented calipers (TornadoTM Series)
the final package results in the most efficient brake system you can buy REGARDLESS OF PRICE!
Hurricane Rotors are available in limited quantities in various sizes. They can also be custom ordered to meet the specific needs of a racing enterprise. Call for availability and sizing.
