TornadoTM Series Calipers

TornadoTM Series Calipers from The Brake Man, Inc., are the most advanced calipers on the market today. Improved features that are genuinely different from any caliper on the market. These Patented Calipers, (patent no. 5,515,948), are the strongest, most compact units available in this size. 

 

1. Constructed from forged billet special series high strength aluminum alloy has 50% greater structural integrity than even a standard billet caliper and over 100% more than a cast caliper. This major improvement in caliper deflection means substantially improved pad life and lower operating temperatures, due to the uniquely designed steel "C" section that resists bending far better than bolts!

 

 

2. Functions as either a left or right side caliper. All you have to do is change the bleed screw assembly with the inlet fitting and you reverse the side of the caliper.

 

Distributors! This will allow you to spend half as much on inventory to support your customer's replacement parts. It also means only half, as many spares are needed by the team for an emergency.

 

3. Patented dual end transfer tubes, (protected by U.S. patent number 5,515,948) increase the fluid flow to the outboard pistons at ten times the rate of a conventional externally tube caliper. From the time you touch the pedal, until the time the outboard piston applies the pad is far faster than your present caliper. Imagine what this can mean to improve braking efficiency & release.

 

4. Lower profile design allows for fitting inside wheel contours where our competition won't even fit!

 

                    5. Mounting is interchangeable with Wilwood, JFZ, CNC and Sierra mounting 

                      brackets, No modification necessary!

 

6. Special hardcoat finish means improved corrosion resistance, easy cleaning, and most importantly, improved wear characteristics, meaning less maintenance. Also available with polished finish for show applications.

F5 TornadoTM Caliper

The F5 is our flagship caliper that represents the best of what an American made caliper is all about! It incorporates the patented dual crossover tube arrangement, a supersize brake pad, and a rigid housing unmatched by any caliper. The severe demands of Road Racing, Sprint Cup and Trophy Truck racing make this caliper of choice when nothing else will do.  Dyno tests against the Brembo Monobloc by Tex Racing confirmed this.  (See the dyno test results)

F4 TornadoTM Caliper

The F4 is made for the late model dirt and asphalt cars, inboard rear sprint car, and for the rear of the Nascar Sprint Cup and Busch series cars. It fits the standard 3.5" mount with no modification. It incorporates the patented crossover tube arrangement found on the F3 and the F5, so be ready for a major improvement in brake response! This caliper is so powerful, we have even made a new oversize pad, called the Super 4 ¾" , just to take full advantage of the road race applications that this caliper is used on.

F3 TornadoTM Caliper

The F3 is a patented caliper that incorporates a unique crossover tube that is impervious to damage. This unique caliper bolts on the standard mounting pattern like the old JFZ mini Grand National 5.25 mount, or other comparable calipers, but that's where the comparison ends! This caliper has far improved rigidity due to its forged billet design. The fluid flow to the outboard pistons is quicker and much more responsive. Just like all of the calipers from The Brake Man, there are no left or right hand calipers. Just switch the inlet and bleed screw fittings and you are ready to go!

This caliper is also available in 3.5" mounting configuration at no extra cost.

One of the lightest and strongest two piston calipers available.

It has dual internal crossover passages, larger brake pads, only one bleed screw for easier bleeding, and for the first time, it fits either side! Distributors and racers do not need a left and right side unit. The "zero drag" characteristics provide a major advantage when used on limited horsepower vehicles, such as go karts, mini sprints and more.

To change a left caliper to a right caliper, all you do is swap the bleed screw with the inlet fitting. The housing withstands deflection much better than any other caliper which results in a firmer pedal with greatly improved brake torque. When you combine these calipers with our high torque pads, you truly realize brake performance like never before. It is made to fit the standard Airheart, JFZ style 3.25" mounting pattern with no modification!

The F4 TornadoTM is now available in 6.875" mounting for even more versatility. All the same features as the 3.5" mount F4 with no compromises in strength or packaging. Available in 1.75" piston* and .500", .810", and 1.25" rotor widths. Uses all the same seals and components as the standard F4 for ease of service and interchangeability. 6"-7" custom mount available on special order.

Tech Tip:

In racing and motorsports applications, TornadoTM calipers should be serviced every year. In street applications, service schedule is not set to a fixed time. Generally a street use caliper can go several years between services, but each application is different.
We have seen calipers log over 13 years of continuous racing duty with only routine service performed!
